In a heated budget session, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu robustly defended his administration against allegations from the opposition regarding the drug crisis in the state. During his presentation of the Economic Survey for 2025-26, he pointed fingers at the prior government for the proliferation of narcotics.

Following the session, CM Sukhu addressed reporters in Shimla, reaffirming his government’s commitment to combating drug abuse through stringent measures and public awareness campaigns. Recent seizures, including those of LSD by the police, signal a rigorous stance against the drug menace, he noted.

On economic matters, Sukhu reported notable growth, highlighting an 8.3% increase in Himachal Pradesh's GDP. He stressed that the state is on a path towards self-reliance, fostering both economic and social well-being, through strategic policy initiatives and effective governance.
