In a significant move to support small farmers, Union minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan revealed the government's plan to develop integrated farming models. These models aim to consolidate crops and livestock farming, benefiting farmers with limited landholdings.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour, Chauhan emphasized the government's efforts to procure various crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), thereby ensuring fair compensation for farmers. He highlighted the challenges faced by small farmers due to restricted land areas and how integrated models could ease these difficulties.
The minister further discussed initiatives encouraging tobacco farmers to transition to alternative crops like sugarcane. This strategy is part of a broader effort to diversify agricultural production while improving the livelihoods of farmers across the nation.
