Swapan Dasgupta's Political Odyssey: From Tarakeswar to Rashbehari

Swapan Dasgupta, a prominent BJP leader and Hindutva ideologue, is set to contest from the Rashbehari constituency in the upcoming assembly elections, a move that he describes as a homecoming. The Rashbehari seat, a mix of affluent and impoverished neighborhoods, sits in proximity to the politically significant Bhabanipur.

Dasgupta, who lost the Tarakeswar seat in 2021, believes his strengths align well with the urban constituency of Rashbehari, where he resides. He hopes to challenge the longstanding TMC dominance with a pledge to bring cleaner, safer politics to the area and reverse the stagnation imposed by TMC rule.

The BJP leader's campaign focuses on capitalizing on public discontent and establishing the party as a viable alternative to TMC. While acknowledging past shortcomings, Dasgupta is confident the BJP has grown stronger and more cohesive, ready to potentially form a government.
