Former Bengal cricketer Shib Shankar Paul, renowned Santal academic Tanushree Hansda, and esteemed Islamic scholar Md Mufti Abdul Matin have officially joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Their induction marks a significant addition to the party's diverse talent pool, as noted during the ceremony on Tuesday.

Paul's contributions to nurturing Bengal's sports talent were commended by state Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. She emphasized the impact of the 'Khelashree' scheme, which has supported numerous local sports initiatives. Bhattacharya stressed Paul's influence in developing grassroots cricket talent across Kolkata and beyond.

Both Hansda and Matin bring academic and religious perspectives to the TMC. Hansda has been an active educator and advocate for Santali literature, while Matin's involvement spans across 86 madrasas within West Bengal. The trio's diverse backgrounds reflect the TMC's commitment to inclusive growth as the elections approach.
