Tesla Powers Up UK Homes: Elon Musk's Energy Venture
Elon Musk's Tesla has been authorized to supply electricity to homes in the UK, marking a new competitor in the energy market. Ofgem’s approval allows Tesla to expand its solar and battery storage services, directly competing against existing suppliers amidst concerns over rising energy bills.
Elon Musk's Tesla is poised to revolutionize the UK energy market following the granting of a license to supply electricity to British homes. The move comes amid growing anxieties over escalating energy bills.
Ofgem, the nation's energy regulator, confirmed Tesla Energy Ventures' approval, a unit under Tesla. This Texas-based giant is now positioned to expand across Britain, challenging household suppliers like Octopus Energy, British Gas, and EDF with its solar and battery storage solutions.
Tesla Motors Limited already holds an electricity generation license in Britain. Tesla car owners can utilize a Powerwall battery to store solar energy, which can power cars or be sold back to the grid. With energy prices soaring post-Iran conflict, British households are concerned over their future bills despite current protections.
