In a fiery critique, Congress leader Udit Raj lambasted the sudden hike in LPG gas cylinder prices, questioning the government's decision amid a lack of preceding crisis news. Speaking to ANI, Raj challenged the price jump, stating, "No LPG crisis was evident just a day ago. Now, the future prosperity seems bleak as people continue to support blindly."
The hike was confirmed on Friday, with the cost of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder rising by Rs 60 starting Saturday, March 7. Congress launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dubbing him 'Inflation Man' and accusing him of pressuring household budgets with rising inflationary tactics. An X post by the party criticized Modi for the direct hit on the common man’s finances.
While the domestic LPG price saw its first hike since April 2025, commercial prices climbed by Rs 115. The cumulative increase over three months totals Rs 307. In response, government sources maintained confidence in India's crude oil and LPG supply siting strategic imports, including a boost from Russia and LPG imports from the US, as evidence of stability.
