In a significant move towards progressive governance, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presented the Jan Vishwas and Anti-Discrimination Bills to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. The Jan Vishwas Bill seeks to amend the Union Territory's enactments by decriminalizing certain offences to enhance ease of living and business.
The accompanying Anti-Discrimination Bill is designed to amend pertinent laws to eradicate discrimination against individuals affected by leprosy. It aims to ensure their equal treatment, hinder segregation, and support the UT's affirmative action commitments.
The budget session of the J&K Legislative Assembly began on Monday, with the Union Territory's budget presentation scheduled for February 6. These legislative efforts underscore the administration's dedication to promoting a progressive and equitable society in Jammu and Kashmir.
