The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has charted new territory in consultancy by entering the port sector with an innovative project. An MoU was signed recently among DMRC, the Deendayal Port Authority, Umeandus Technology, and BEML Limited to implement a Real-Time Automated Cargo Evacuation System (e-FTS) at Kandla Port in Gujarat.
The e-FTS will utilize advanced technologies including blockchain, AI, machine learning, and IoT to optimize freight transport operations, promising increased efficiency and sustainability alongside reduced costs. Though developed for ports, this system can adapt to other sites based on specific demands.
Additionally, DMRC has been awarded the ICI Awards 2025 for outstanding concrete structure work on the Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor, which is part of Delhi Metro's Phase-IV efforts to complete the first circular ring metro line in India, aiming to enhance connectivity in the capital.
In tech news, DMRC has launched the 'DMRC Pay powered by BHIM' feature, enabling seamless UPI payments within the Delhi Metro Sarthi app in collaboration with NPCI BHIM Services Limited, thus facilitating a convenient and cashless commuting experience.
