In a significant global gathering, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced that representatives from over 120 countries participated in the opening plenary of the Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly in New Delhi, which was successfully inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
Joshi highlighted the influential role of ISA member countries, accounting for 40% of global solar power, and praised India's leadership in solar models like PM Kusum and PM Surya Ghar. These initiatives have led to increased solar installations and economic benefits for many citizens.
President Murmu emphasized that solar energy goes beyond power generation, serving as a symbol of inclusion and dignity. She called for urgent climate action and stressed the need for solar energy to foster job creation, women's leadership, and rural development, while preserving ecological balance for future generations.
