Solar Energy: Empowering Inclusive Development Globally

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday emphasized that solar energy extends beyond merely generating power, highlighting its role in fostering empowerment and inclusive development. Her comments came as she inaugurated the opening plenary of the Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly in New Delhi.

In her address, President Murmu described the ISA as a testimony to humanity's shared vision of utilizing solar energy to promote inclusion, dignity, and prosperity. She urged immediate and concrete global efforts to combat climate change, noting India's steadfast commitment to this cause. The ISA, according to her, represents a pivotal stride towards addressing the global climate challenge by promoting solar energy adoption.

The President underscored the significance of inclusion in India's development journey, with energy equity serving as a cornerstone for social equity. She called on member countries to prioritize people's lives over infrastructure, linking solar energy initiatives to job creation, women's leadership, and digital inclusion. Highlighting technology's role, she urged sharing advanced technologies while preserving ecological balance as solar installations increase, reaffirming dedication to global and future progress.
