Indian Railways has taken decisive steps to ensure passenger safety amid the impending Cyclone Montha, announcing the cancellation of 32 trains that would pass through Visakhapatnam. The cyclone is forecasted to make landfall on the Kakinada coast by Tuesday night, heightening concerns over passenger safety.

Deepak Rout, Chief Public Relations Officer at East Coast Railway, confirmed that both local memos and additional trains set to depart Tuesday have been called off as a precautionary measure. Rerouting has also been implemented, with the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express diverted, and the Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur Express and Rourkela-Jagdalpur Express facing early terminations.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Montha has already caused heavy rains across several coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha. The India Meteorological Department warned of severe weather conditions continuing as Montha makes its expected landfall, advising residents in the affected areas to remain cautious.
