The Central government has released a gazette notification detailing the citations for gallantry awardees announced on August 15 this year. These prestigious honors were conferred on Independence Day, recognizing exceptional acts of bravery in counter-terrorist operations across the nation, prominently including Operation Sindoor, amid tensions with Pakistan.

Among the decorated officers, Colonel Koshank Lamba distinguished himself during Operation Sindoor by demonstrating impeccable leadership and executing a swift air mobilization of specialized equipment. His actions resulted in the proficient destruction of terrorist strongholds, despite retaliatory enemy fire. For his valor and leadership, he receives the 'Vir Chakra.'

Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht showed exceptional operational acumen during the same operation, leading his unit to destroy terrorist camps and ensuring the safety of his troops amid counter bombardments. His leadership and strategic planning earned him the 'Vir Chakra,' alongside Group Captains Ranjeet Singh Sidhu and Animesh Patni, and Squadron Leaders Rizwan Malik and Siddhant Singh, for their outstanding courage and dedication to the mission's success under grave threats.
