Raksha Mantri Reviews Army Readiness, Lauds Operation Sindoor in Jaisalmer

In a comprehensive review of India's defence posture and the Indian Army's operational preparedness, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh presided over the Army Commanders' Conference in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on October 24, 2025. The visit included high-level deliberations with the military's top brass and a forward-area tour of Tanot and Laungewala, underscoring India's strategic readiness along the western frontier and its commitment to modernization, self-reliance, and integrated warfare.

Addressing the situation in Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Rajnath Singh commended the Army's pivotal role in maintaining peace and security post the abrogation of Article 370. He highlighted how the valley has transitioned from unrest to a zone of hope and opportunity, with governance now increasingly reflecting local empowerment and democratic participation.

"Today, the streets there are filled with hope, not turmoil," he remarked.

Border Security and Foreign Policy

On the sensitive Northern border, the Raksha Mantri remarked that the ongoing de-escalation efforts reflect India's balanced foreign policy approach—one that keeps diplomatic channels open while ensuring robust military readiness. • Edge Data Centres for Konark and Fire & Fury Corps, with plans for nationwide expansion

• Sainik Yatri Mitra App to assist travelling soldiers and veterans

• Equipment Helpline for rapid logistics and support

• 'Defence Millet Dishes Compendium' by ASC Centre & College, Bengaluru

• 'Naman Centres' to facilitate services for veterans and Next-of-Kin (NOK)

Paying Homage at Laungewala: Legacy of Bravery

At the historic Laungewala Yudh Sthal, Shri Rajnath Singh laid a wreath in honour of the 1971 war heroes and paid homage to the legendary valour displayed during the Battle of Laungewala. He inaugurated the 'Chandpuri Hall', an audio-visual memorial dedicated to Major (later Brigadier) Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, who led the gallant defence during the battle.

Veterans who participated in the iconic battle were also felicitated by the Raksha Mantri in a solemn tribute to their service.

The visit concluded with a powerful Capability Demonstration Exercise, where the Indian Army showcased its new organisational structures like the Bhairav Battalion and Ashni Platoon—units tailored for multi-domain operations. The exercise highlighted India's push towards jointness, innovation, and technological integration in warfare.

These formations demonstrated next-generation combat strategies using AI-driven tools, surveillance platforms, and precision weaponry, reflecting the seamless fusion of India's military heritage with its drive for modernity.
