In a moment of profound sorrow and resilience, Dorz Cheung, a 34-year-old Hong Kong resident, stepped back into his burnt home for the first time since one of the city's most deadly fires broke out in November. The devastating blaze engulfed seven residential towers, claiming 168 lives.
Overcome by memories and sentiment, Cheung retrieved cherished possessions including family photos and his late grandfather's belongings. Despite his emotional turmoil, Cheung strives to regain normalcy by running marathons, managing to keep his spirits up.
Cheung and his grandmother, now living in temporary housing, have grown closer following the tragedy. He believes in the power of resilience, saying, "Life must go on. When something major happens, after you’ve cried and broken down, you really have to find a way to stand back up."
