Thane came alive with the vibrant celebrations of Gudi Padwa, as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Bollywood actor Amrita Rao joined the festivities. Residents created colourful 'gudis', flags, and traditional rangolis to celebrate the Hindu New Year, with the event marked by a grand procession.

Organized by the Sri Koupineshwar Sanskrutik Dnyas temple trust, the procession featured over 50 colourful floats and, for the first time, saw the participation of transgender community members. Deputy CM Shinde and local MLA Sanjay Kelkar carried the palanquin of Koupineshwar temple's deity for a stretch, adding to the event's significance.

Amrita Rao, attending in traditional Marathi attire, praised the remarkable enthusiasm of Thane's youth and elderly. The procession route dazzled with decorative arches, flags, and rangolis, while performances by the Karnataka Mahasangh added a multicultural touch. The celebrations reflected a vibrant cultural fusion in Thane.
