Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a major achievement on Tuesday, revealing that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has given the green light for excavations at eight significant sites in the state, prominently featuring Keezhadi. This development follows relentless efforts by the DMK to secure the approval.
Stalin highlighted that the recently secured permissions represent a triumph for the DMK, resulting from sustained pressure and frequent appeals to the central government. This permission, which had been delayed for months, marks significant progress in the Tamil Nadu archaeological landscape.
Despite this victory, Stalin underscored the unresolved issue of the pending Keezhadi excavation report, asserting that the state government will persist in its campaign until the BJP-led Union government releases it. Keezhadi remains a focal point for showcasing the richness of Tamil civilisation's antiquity.
