Vandalism Sparks Outrage: Sant Ravidas Statue Damaged

An act of vandalism unfolded in Bandheta village when the statue of Sant Ravidas was found damaged, inciting protests among locals. The incident took place on Monday night, leading villagers to discover the damage the following morning.
Authorities were quick to respond as Sub-District Magistrate Sadar Thirum Raj Singh and police officers reached the scene. The miscreants not only targeted the statue but also damaged a supporting pillar for the structure’s roof.
The crowd was calmed by installing a new statue, ensuring order was restored swiftly. Phephana Station Officer Vishwadeep Singh reported that the situation is now under control. The statue, erected on government land, had been installed just eight months ago, making its desecration an affront to the community.
