Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra made an appearance before the Maharashtra legislative council's privileges committee on Tuesday to address his alleged comments about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The hearing was postponed due to the absence of main complainant Pravin Darekar, with the session now set for March 10, as confirmed by committee chairperson Prasad Lad.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare was also present at the panel but reported that neither she nor Kamra had their statements recorded, as BJP leader Darekar was not present. When asked about a previous threat from Shiv Sena regarding his safety in Mumbai, Kamra assured that he felt secure.
Kamra, known for his contentious takes on political figures, referenced an incident from last year when his performance venue was targeted after his parody song about Shinde. Both Kamra and Andhare await the March 10 hearing to clarify the charges, which stem from claims of derogatory remarks against the Shiv Sena leader.
