Territorial Conflict Claims Life of Young Tigress in Sariska Reserve
Tigress ST-28 was found dead in Sariska Tiger Reserve due to a territorial fight with another tigress. Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma stated that the incident was between ST-28 and her mother, ST-14. The matter was discussed in the Rajasthan assembly, highlighting concerns about tiger habitat demarcation.

A tragic territorial conflict led to the death of tigress ST-28 in Sariska Tiger Reserve, as confirmed by the Rajasthan government in the state assembly on Tuesday. The conflict involved a fight with another tigress, identified as ST-14, who is the mother of the deceased big cat.
Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully raised questions about the incident, inquiring whether a formal investigation was underway and seeking details on the demarcation of the Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH) within the reserve.
Minister of State for Forests Sanjay Sharma responded that the CTH had been delineated based on Supreme Court orders, following expert committee recommendations. He also confirmed that the postmortem was conducted according to National Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines before the tigress’s carcass was cremated.
