In a stunning turnout, more than 50 lakh pilgrims have visited Uttarakhand's Chardham Yatra sites this monsoon, overcoming numerous natural challenges, officials revealed on Wednesday.
According to the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, 50,12,970 pilgrims journeyed to Chardham locations, such as Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Hemkund Sahib, exceeding last year's 48 lakh.
Despite the disruption from the Dharali disaster in August and subsequent cloudbursts and landslides, the pilgrimage demonstrated resilience. Officials anticipate the number might reach 52 lakh before the season concludes, marking a remarkable rebound post-pandemic.
