Delhi's Post-Chhath Cleanup Drive: Restoring Yamuna's Glory

In an effort to restore the Yamuna's pristine condition after Chhath Puja celebrations, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta spearheaded a cleanup initiative at Vasudev Ghat. Early Tuesday, accompanied by Culture and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, Gupta personally collected litter, sweeping the ghat and urging public participation in the ongoing effort.

The cleanup targeted waste such as water bottles, flowers, and diyas, remnants of the city's widespread Chhath festivities. Gupta highlighted that the celebration's aftermath leaves expected trash and stressed the necessity for continuous sanitation efforts, jointly undertaken by government bodies and citizens.

Further bolstering the clean-up endeavor, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, along with Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, launched a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) campaign to gather garbage from Yamuna Ghats and nearby artificial ponds set up for the festival. This concerted cleanup effort comes after the preparation of 17 Chhath ghats and around 1,500 others within the city's limits.
