Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday evaluated the dredging operations at the Adyar Estuary, a move taken in preparation for the impending Northeast monsoon.
The operations coincide with the management of surplus water from the Chembarambakkam reservoir being discharged into the Adyar River, a standard flood control practice executed by the Water Resources Department. On this occasion, the authority released 945 cusecs of water from the dam.
Accompanied by State Health Minister Ma Subramanian and senior officials, Stalin also inaugurated the renovated Adyar Eco Park, now boasting new amenities like a watchtower, visitor centre, and an open-air theatre. The Rs 42.45 crore project aims to provide an oasis of tranquility amidst Chennai's urban hustle.
