In a ceremonial event that drew nearly 10,000 devotees, the revered Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand closed for the winter season on Thursday. The closure marks a significant moment in the spiritual calendar of the region.
Located in the Rudraprayag district, the doors of Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva, were shut at precisely 8:30 am. The state's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with temple officials and devotees, attended the event, chanting devotional hymns as the temple transitioned into its winter pause.
During the winter, worship of Lord Kedarnath will continue at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath. Despite adverse weather affecting the season's pilgrimage, there was a notable increase in devotees compared to previous years, reflecting the enduring spiritual draw of the Char Dham Yatra.
