Uttarakhand's Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), paid a visit to Kedarnath Dham on Tuesday, engaging in a special Rudrabhishek ceremony. His visit included an inspection of the ongoing construction and developmental efforts at the sacred site. Singh expressed that the experience at Kedarnath instills faith and spiritual tranquility, and he prayed for global peace and sustainable progress in Uttarakhand.
The Governor lauded the collective efforts of the Tirth Purohit Samaj, local administration, temple committee, police, and rescue forces like SDRF and NDRF in enhancing Kedarnath's infrastructure and managing the pilgrimage. He emphasized that the seamless coordination among these groups ensures a safe and divine experience for all devotees.
This year, the Kedarnath Yatra has seen unprecedented success, with pilgrim numbers surpassing 16.52 lakh as of October 8, breaking previous records. Although halted briefly due to adverse weather in early September, the Yatra resumed and will continue until October 23, the closing date for Kedarnath's temple doors. Extensive security and logistical measures have been implemented to handle the increasing footfalls across Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. This includes road safety operations to prevent landslides and ensure the smooth flow of pilgrims.
