China's Blueprint for Youth-Development-Oriented Cities

China has unveiled a significant proposal urging cities to incorporate youth development into multiple facets of urban planning. This sweeping initiative is designed to enhance housing, healthcare, education, and public services, making urban life more supportive for young residents, children, and families.

The comprehensive blueprint, resulting from a collaboration of 15 departments and released on Wednesday, marks a crucial move towards building "youth-development-oriented cities." The plan includes a breadth of measures touching upon jobs, housing, healthcare, family support, and urban services.

The government aims for this concept to be widely established by 2030, with a fully mature system for youth development anticipated by 2035. This comes as China attempts to address its demographic challenges, after official data showed a continuing decline in the birth rate.
