Greenland Girls School in Kenya is making history by being the only school specifically designed for teenage mothers. Here, education is paired with childcare, giving young mothers a chance to return to school without stigma. The 310 students and over 80 infants find a welcoming space that promotes learning and growth.
Founded in 2015 by Shining Hope for Communities, Greenland has already helped hundreds of young women through secondary education, launching successful careers for some. It serves mainly students from nearby Kajiado County and beyond, connecting through a network of outreach officers who refer expecting mothers.
The school's impact is profound, addressing challenges like social stigma and lack of family support. It offers mentorship and psychological counseling to integrate students back into education. With a second campus opening in Kilifi County, Greenland is set to expand its reach and continue closing the education equity gap.
