Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Landmark Initiatives for Development
The Maharashtra cabinet has greenlighted several significant projects, including increased scholarships for differently-abled students, irrigation funding, river rejuvenation initiatives, land allocation for sports, and restructuring in land records. These efforts aim to bolster educational, agricultural, and environmental well-being in the state.

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra cabinet sanctioned an increase in scholarships for differently-abled students in Classes 8 to 12, marking the first hike in 12 years. The scholarship boost will range from Rs 500-1,000, benefiting over 92,000 students and backed by a Rs 23.11 crore funding.
Additional measures include a Rs 1,234 crore allocation for the Sakalai lift irrigation scheme, targeting 32 drought-prone villages and covering 9,600 hectares. Other decisions involved forming the Maharashtra State River Rejuvenation Authority to address 54 river stretches and clearing land for a sports complex in Amravati.
The cabinet also decided on a committee examining Scheduled Caste reservation sub-categorisation and restructuring posts in the land records department. These decisive actions aim at enhancing educational, agricultural, and environmental sectors in Maharashtra.
