The Kerala General Education Department has issued a call for public input to address the rising concern of social media addiction in children. State General Education Minister V Sivankutty highlighted the stark reality of children's increasing dependence on digital platforms.
Sivankutty noted that Kerala, a leader in internet literacy, must engage in this crucial debate. He emphasized that the shift from outdoor play to screen time poses risks to children's physical and mental health, as well as their social abilities.
While ruling out a complete internet ban, the minister underlined the importance of responsible tech use. The government invites public suggestions on whether to implement strict laws or focus on awareness initiatives to protect children's future.
