In a recent incident at Ravenshaw University, fifteen students were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday following symptoms of suspected food poisoning. University officials reported that these students experienced vomiting after allegedly consuming water from a purifier located in the East Hostel.
Despite the students' claims, hostel authorities have refuted the accusations, asserting that water samples have been dispatched for laboratory testing to determine possible contaminants. Sarat Kumar Rout, the hostel warden, observed that the overall health of the students remains stable as they continue to be monitored medically.
Rout further argued that, considering the East Hostel accommodates 183 residents, if food or water were genuinely contaminated, a larger outbreak would have occurred. Instead, he speculated that the affected students might have ingested something from an external source. Both food and water samples are being analyzed, and test results will ultimately clarify the situation.
