The Tezpur University Teachers' Association (TUTA) has raised serious allegations against the varsity's administration, accusing it of neglecting the Assamese language by not purchasing any books in the local language over the past two financial years.

TUTA claims Vice Chancellor Sambhu Nath Singh approved book purchases primarily from select Delhi-based publishers, bypassing wider options and allegedly leading to financial discrepancies in handling public funds meant for educational development.

The university has also faced criticism over claims of disrespecting cultural icon Zubeen Garg and environmental mismanagement. These issues have fueled tensions, sparking protests and calls for an independent investigation into the administration's actions.
