Protest Erupts Over Alleged Faculty Assault at Delhi University
Teachers and staff at Delhi University protested against alleged assault on Professor Sujit Kumar by DUSU joint secretary Deepika Jha. Teachers from numerous Delhi University colleges mounted a demonstration at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, seeking strict disciplinary actions against Deepika Jha, the students union joint secretary, following allegations of physical aggression towards a faculty member.
The protest, orchestrated by the Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College Staff Association, lasted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with widespread participation from Delhi University Teachers Association representatives, academic council members, and non-teaching staff.
They collectively denounced the attack and urged an immediate investigation, highlighting the lack of timely intervention from the university's administration, which they accuse of shielding the suspects. A university committee is currently probing the incident, fueled by an online video showcasing the alleged assault.
