In a tragic turn of events, an 18-year-old cadet at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune's Khadakwasla lost his life due to drowning during a swimming practice session. The incident occurred at 5 pm, according to official statements.
The swimming practice was organized for cadets requiring additional training and was conducted under the supervision of instructors. Said cadet, Aditya D Yadav, was discovered unresponsive on the water's surface. Lifeguards swiftly rescued him, but despite immediate CPR and on-site medical assistance, he could not be revived.
A formal inquiry is now underway to investigate the incident thoroughly, seeking to uncover the exact circumstances that led to this unfortunate event. This incident follows the recent passing of first-term cadet Antariksh Kumar Singh, raising safety concerns at the institution.
