A tragic accident unfolded in Delhi's Rohini, where a six-year-old girl drowned after falling into a waterlogged area close to her home, officials reported on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday evening in the locality of Rama Vihar. A police control room received a distress call at around 6 pm reporting the disappearance of a minor girl. In response, a search operation was immediately launched in the vicinity of Rama Vihar.

"During the search, the team discovered the girl floating in a waterlogged section near her residence," stated an officer on the scene. The girl was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. It is suspected she slipped into the water while playing outside. The police are conducting further investigations, with family members initially opposing postmortem but later agreeing.
