India's Infrastructure Expansion: Over 1,900 Projects on Track with Major Investments
India is pushing forward with 1,941 central sector infrastructure projects valued at Rs 41.50 lakh crore. Nearly half of the costs are already incurred, with significant progress reported in transport and logistics. The MoSPI credits the PAIMANA platform for efficient project tracking and review processes.

In a recent update, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) reported that 1,941 central sector infrastructure projects, with revised estimates totaling Rs 41.50 lakh crore, are under intensive monitoring. The ministry confirmed that an impressive Rs 19.93 lakh crore, approximately 48.02 per cent of the total cost, has already been expended on these ambitious undertakings.
Highlighting the tangible progress on these projects, MoSPI noted that about 40% of the infrastructure endeavors have achieved over 80% physical completion. Nearly 13% have surpassed the same milestone financially, signaling that numerous projects are on the brink of completion. The transport and logistics sector leads this infrastructural charge, with 1,428 active projects estimated at Rs 22.66 lakh crore, stressing India's commitment to connectivity-focused development.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways emerges as the front-runner regarding project count, handling 1,120 projects and representing 58% of the total. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railways presides over the lion's share of project costs with Rs 8.37 lakh crore. The energy sector is also a significant player, absorbing 26% of the revised project costs, mainly in oil, gas, and power infrastructure. MoSPI praised its PAIMANA platform for enhancing monitoring and decision-making, revealing a blend of both nascent and near-complete projects in the pipeline.
