Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress general secretary, has accused Haryana's grain markets of exploiting farmers under the BJP government's mismanagement. Touring Ambala city mandi on Monday, Surjewala observed that nearly 28.84 lakh metric tonnes of wheat lie unsold while procurement lags.
The Congress leader criticized the administration's slow procurement pace, alleging that the BJP treats farmers as 'enemies' and has converted the grain markets into 'centres of exploitation'. Despite claims of purchasing 24 crops at MSP, wheat remains uncollected, he said.
Surjewala warned that the sluggish pace and poor handling have forced farmers into debt traps, as they're left waiting for payment. He called the situation a plunderous transformation of Haryana's crucial agricultural sector.
