Intertek Group plc, a frontrunner in Total Quality Assurance solutions worldwide, has announced its acquisition of a cutting-edge solar photovoltaic (PV) laboratory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Previously owned by Mitsui Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd., the lab enhances Intertek's service offerings to the burgeoning solar industry as India strives for a significant renewable energy transformation.
With India's ambitious target set at 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030, including 280 GW dedicated to solar energy, the demand for reliable Quality Assurance solutions has surged. Intertek's new solar PV lab, accredited with ISO 17025, will deliver comprehensive testing services. It aims to support both domestic solar PV manufacturers and international companies eager to tap into the Indian market by providing faster and more reliable market access through harmonized testing.
The latest acquisition bolsters Intertek's presence in the Western India corridor and strengthens its leadership in renewable energy assurance. This expansion aligns with the company's existing risk-based quality assurance offerings, including aerial and plant inspections. Ajay Kapoor, Regional Managing Director for South Asia at Intertek, emphasized the company's commitment to India's growing electrification process, while Sunny Rai, President of Electrical and Connected World at Intertek, highlighted the broader access solutions the lab provides for global solar players.
