Top Earners in Banking: A Gender Imbalance Revealed
An EBA report reveals that Europe's highest-paid bankers remain predominantly male, with 89% of million-euro earners being men. Despite a 9% increase in high earners, the gender disparity persists, particularly in investment firms. Achieving gender balance in senior roles is a priority for regulators.
A recent report from the European Banking Authority indicates a staggering gender imbalance among Europe's highest-paid bankers. It reveals that almost 90% of those earning over one million euros annually are men.
Investment firms exhibit an even starker imbalance, with 97% of the top earners being male. Despite a notable 9% rise in the pool of high earners, these figures underscore persistent gender disparities within the financial sector.
The EBA has emphasized the slow progress toward gender balance, particularly in senior roles, and underlines the urgency for regulators and firms to address this issue head-on.
