Planning the Future: A Third Runway for Navi Mumbai International Airport

CIDCO has taken a significant step forward by appointing a joint venture between RITES Limited and Creative Group LLP to conduct a techno-commercial feasibility study for a third runway at the Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The meeting to deliberate the study's key aspects included RITES Ltd.'s Anil Aswani and Creative Group LLP's Gurpreet Singh Shah. This move comes as air traffic is projected to surge in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, necessitating forward-thinking infrastructure plans.

The proposed third runway aims to boost NMIA's capacity and efficiency, ensuring it becomes a crucial global gateway. As one of India's largest greenfield international airports, NMIA is set to handle increased passenger and cargo loads, firmly establishing its role alongside CSMIA in the dual-airport system.
