The ongoing West Asia conflict is casting long shadows over India's export landscape, according to Central Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. During a recent press conference, Agrawal highlighted the potential for wider global impacts if tensions persist.

India's export economy had been projected to sustain its upward trend; however, Agrawal noted that the crisis has already disrupted both exports and energy imports. The West Asia region accounts for 12-13% of India's exports, making it a key player in the country's trade dynamics.

In response, the government is prioritizing supply chain resilience and industry self-sufficiency. Agrawal emphasized efforts to manage LPG supply issues and diversify import sources. The pharmaceutical sector, in particular, is under scrutiny to ensure the continuity of critical intermediates and solvents.
