In a dramatic highway incident, two men on a motorcycle allegedly attacked a bus driver and threw stones at his vehicle after a dispute over overtaking in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district. The altercation terrified passengers as it unfolded on National Highway-74 on Wednesday afternoon.

The argument began when the bus, en route from Tanakpur to Haridwar, encountered the motorcycle-riding youths. According to police, the situation escalated when the men intercepted the bus in Gadarpur, verbally abused, and allegedly assaulted the driver. Efforts by bystanders calmed the immediate situation, but tensions reignited shortly after.

In a subsequent chase, the perpetrators and their accomplices attempted to stop the bus near Madiya Ratna. When the driver refused to pull over, the youths allegedly pelted stones, shattering windows and risking passenger safety. The driver reported the incident to police at the Doraha outpost, leading to the detention of several suspects. Kotwali in-charge Sanjay Pathak confirmed a case has been registered, with stringent measures assured against those involved.
