LG Electronics India has declared itself a 'decisive leader' in the air conditioner market after selling over a million units in the first quarter of 2026. This milestone, according to the company, signifies the fastest and strongest start to a summer season in its history within India.
Contrary to LG's claims, Tata group firm Voltas disputes the leadership assertion. Despite refraining from detailed comments due to a silent period before quarterly results, Voltas emphasized its stronghold in the room air-conditioning sector by highlighting customer trust and a focus on innovation and energy efficiency.
The competitive Indian RAC market anticipates good sales in 2026 following a lackluster performance due to unseasonal events last year. Meanwhile, market players are adjusting to new energy labeling norms introduced in January, amidst rising costs from global geopolitical tensions.
