Tesla's Electrifying Comeback: European Registrations Surge
Tesla's car registrations in France tripled in March, marking a notable recovery in its European sales. Data shows a parallel rise in Nordic countries, despite its prior decline in market share due to competition and CEO Elon Musk's political stance. This mirrors the growing demand for electric vehicles.
Tesla has seen a dramatic rise in car registrations in France, nearly reaching a two-year record high in March. The electric vehicle giant's registrations more than doubled in the Nordic countries, signaling a potential recovery in the European market. A surge comes after a notable drop in market share due to increased competition from Chinese brands and criticism of CEO Elon Musk's political views.
The introduction of more affordable Model Y and Model 3 variants last year played a crucial role in Tesla's sales revival. Economist Flavien Neuvy of BNP Paribas predicted that the ongoing rise in petrol prices, influenced by the geopolitical climate, could further benefit electric vehicle makers in the long run, though its immediate impact on sales remains modest.
Data illustrates a substantial spike in March registrations across Europe, with France observing a 203% increase, marking the first sales growth since October. Similar patterns were seen in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, while Tesla's figures in Spain also rose significantly, despite a decline in the Netherlands. Additional registration data from Italy, Portugal, Britain, and Germany is anticipated.
