Rajasthan faces a significant employment crisis with over 22 lakh unemployed youth currently registered at the state's employment offices. Despite the high numbers, no candidates have been recruited in the government's sector in the previous five years, according to information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The Directorate of Employment data highlights that out of 22,21,317 registered job seekers, Jaipur leads with the highest number, standing at 2.51 lakh. Alwar, Nagaur, Jhunjhunu, and Jodhpur follow. The statistics further reveal that the Other Backward Classes constitute the majority among the job seekers. Despite high investment in the private sector, job placements remain minimal.
RTI applicant Chandra Shekhar Gaur suggests a need to activate unemployment offices and improve candidate referrals. While employment offices cite their coordinated efforts with private companies and initiatives like job fairs, the limited success underscores the urgency for strategic enhancements. The state's Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship aims to address these challenges through various schemes and vocational training programs.
