Qantas Airways Responds to Rising Fuel Costs with Fare Hikes
Qantas Airways is increasing fares on its international routes due to higher jet fuel costs linked to Middle Eastern conflict. The airline is evaluating increased capacity on Europe routes as the situation impacts global travel. Air New Zealand also announced similar price hikes.
Qantas Airways announced a fare increase on its international routes this week, citing a surge in jet fuel costs driven by the conflict in the Middle East.
The Australian airline is exploring options to boost capacity on its existing Europe routes amid ongoing global travel disruptions. This comes in response to a U.S.-Israeli war on Iran that has led to increased oil prices and potential travel cutbacks.
Competitor Air New Zealand has also introduced broad ticket price increases, marking some of the first adjustments since the conflict began. Flights to Europe are reportedly operating at over 90% capacity, significantly above usual levels for this period.
