In a strategic move to curb cervical cancer, the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign is now targeting 14-year-old girls across government health facilities.
Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav revealed in the Rajya Sabha that, as of February 2026, 8.73 crore women had undergone cervical cancer screening. He emphasized the importance of these vaccinations being available at various government medical infrastructures, including Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs and district hospitals.
Data from the National Cancer Registry Programme highlights that the estimated incidence of cervical cancer cases in 2025 was 79,239, with the highest numbers reported in Uttar Pradesh. This campaign underscores the government's commitment to strengthening public health initiatives.
