Vietnam, finishing with three points, were placed at the bottom of the three third-placed teams, allowing Uzbekistan and the Philippines to progress thanks to better goal differences. Taiwan is set to challenge reigning champions China in the quarter-finals, occurring a day before Japan faces the Philippines.
Japan did not concede a single goal in the group stage, with standout performances from players like Rio Ueki, who scored the opening goal. Despite effective saves from Vietnam's Khong Thi Hang, Japan's offensive onslaught was unstoppable with Maika Hamano, Aoba Fujino, and Kiko Seike completing the scoreline.
