A recent special enforcement drive in the Jammu division resulted in significant actions against traffic violations. Authorities issued 445 notices for breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act and seized 60 vehicles for serious offences, according to an official report revealed on Monday.
The Motor Vehicle Department, led by Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, conducted the operation across multiple districts, including Jammu, Udhampur, and Samba. The crackdown focused on grave violations, resulting in the recommendation for suspension of 64 driving licenses and 20 registration certificates.
The extensive drive, which collected Rs 18.18 lakh in penalties, emphasized addressing issues such as overloading and dangerous driving. In total, 2,494 vehicles were checked at 24 strategic checkpoints, leading to significant enforcement of road safety regulations.
