In a strategic move aimed at rejuvenating its presence in the Indian market, Japanese automaker Nissan has earmarked 2026 as the year of its brand resurgence in the country. Currently, with only the Magnite in its Indian lineup, Nissan has launched its second vehicle, the Gravite, a seven-seater MPV. This marks the company's commitment to diversifying its offerings with the introduction of the Tekton SUV and a larger C segment seven-seater SUV by the end of the year.
Nissan plans to significantly broaden its market footprint with a focus on SUVs, reflecting consumer demand and growth trends in India. According to Saurabh Vatsa, MD of Nissan Motor India, the company is leveraging international high-growth markets to boost sales volumes. By FY 2026-27, Nissan aims to exceed the 1 lakh unit export mark from India, capitalizing on a broad price range from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 20 lakh to capture various vehicle segments.
Expansions in the dealer network are underway to enhance customer accessibility and experience, targeting a growth from 160 to 250 sales outlets by the fiscal year's end. Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President of Nissan and Infiniti, emphasizes the long-term commitment to India, citing it as a core market alongside the United States, Japan, China, and the Middle East. Nissan's local manufacturing and product roadmap position the brand to compete and lead in the market.
