Jammu and Kashmir's Agriculture Grants Propel Economic Growth

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday approved grants totaling over Rs 9,680 crore for departments including agriculture, rural development, and others. This decision came after extensive discussions among the legislators.

Minister Javid Ahmed Dar outlined that agriculture and allied sectors are vital to the region’s economy, contributing Rs 41,273 crore, or 19% of the SGDP. Highlighting this economic backbone, Dar stated that horticulture alone accounts for 41%, with livestock contributing 33%, and core agriculture 25%.

These funds reflect a strategic investment in Jammu and Kashmir's economic infrastructure, aimed at ensuring food security and sustaining traditional practices while fostering grassroots prosperity.
