Kanpur's Historic March: a United Call for an Addiction-Free Society

In a historic display of unity, more than ten thousand citizens participated in a large-scale anti-addiction march in Kanpur on February 14, 2026. Organized by Bhagwati Manav Kalyan Sangathan, the march aimed to raise public awareness and demand policy changes for a drug-free Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh.

The rally, under the spiritual guidance of Yogiraj Shri Shaktiputra Ji Maharaj, marked a significant step in a larger movement for addiction-free living. Attended by influential figures like Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey and Juna Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Manojanand Golden Giri Maharaj, the procession enjoyed robust public and administrative support. Community members, saints, and local organizations hailed the cause by showering flowers throughout the march route.

Speakers from the organization, including Central President Pooja Shukla and General Secretary Ajay Awasthi, emphasized the dangers of addiction, linking it to increased crime and social ills. They called on the Uttar Pradesh government to impose strict measures against substance abuse, highlighting the need for a cultural shift led by women. The march concluded with vows to fight for an addiction-free state, as the movement pioneers social change under the slogan 'Nasha Mukt Kanpur Khushhal Kanpur.'
